The piece was painted during the AAVAG (African American Visual Artists Guild) open studio sessions at the Dayton Art Institute.  My friend, Curtis Barnes Professor Emeritis of Sinclair Community college hosted these wonderful Sunday afteroon sessions.  They were like going to church for me, a time of spiritual communion with like minded individuals.
