The Conversation

2005, 31" x 25.5"

The Conversation was inspired by a group of potatoes I saw laying on my kitchen counter in Yellow Springs Ohio.  Looking at them, I thought to myself, they looked like they were in a 'huddle.'  The composition created by the grouping was perfect for a canvas that I had just primed.  After starting the painting and not getting back to it for a few days, I noticed that they had sprouted eyes. The eyes along with the clock in the lower left edge of the painting made a great comment about the passage of time.
